Another once busy little town ( neighbouring Saltcoats) that fell into depression during the Thatcher era. It simply never recovered nor was it ever given any help to do so. Absolutley disgraceful.
I grew up here and although it was always a bit rough it had it charms. Now its a no mans land…desolate bleak depressing and can be quite dangerous.
Ever tried standing at the bus stop at the Cross in the evening?
With hardly any local businesses left, no industry and a forgotten community, Stevenston (also marshalled by those bad ******** from saltcoats police) has literally become Mad Max country.
