Ashby de la zouch is marketed as an affluent, middle class town with excellent transport links. As a resident of seven years, I hate the place. Stuck up pretentious people attempting to drive their range rovers, the class of driving here is abysmal.
There’s no job centre or sure start centre and no help for people struggling with kids, but there is a food bank. Which tells you something. Over priced nurseries.
If you have a twin pushchair or wide wheelchair you won’t get it round most shops. Not many
useful shops, I go to Swadlincote for shopping. There are 3 co-ops within leaping distance as Ashby doesn’t have a town planner.
Everyone parks on pavements on Nottingham road even though they have driveways, because they think they’re entitled.
There is no rail station in Ashby de la zouch and the Arriva bus service isn’t fit for purpose [allegedly]. If you want your kid to go to Loughborough college be aware they’ll struggle with the buses massively. Plus point is low crime, low drug use except for coke in pubs but it doesn’t affect Joe Public, although police here are non existent.
There are power cuts a plenty, as too many houses are putting a strain on resources. There is ONE GP surgery which isn’t the best so be aware. No NHS dentist. Why not move nearer Measham way for cheaper housing, much nicer people and a very good catholic school.
